SHIFT CHANGE/ REQUEST POLICY: If for some reason an employee cannot attend a scheduled shift, it is their sole responsibility to get their shift covered. They should check the posted schedule to see if another team member can switch shifts with them, or doesn’t have 5 shifts of their own and can cover their shift. Then the employee should complete a shift change request form, and obtain a manager’s signature at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled shift. It is the employees' responsibility to obtain the manager's approval. Failure to follow this procedure will result in non-approval for a shift change, and the employee must attend their scheduled shift. If they do not show for their shift, it will be considered voluntary termination of employment with The Shwack Cantina.
If an employee needs time off for a significant amount of time, the policy for requesting time off is as follows:
1 Day off - 2 Weeks Advance Notice. The day should be requested off in the shift request book and the manager informed as well.
2 or More days off - 1 Months Advance Notice. The days should be requested off in the shift request book and the manager informed.
Requests are NOT a guarantee and are at the sole discretion of the Manager. Employees are expected to work all major holidays with the exception of Christmas and Thanksgiving (Closed Days). Time off requests are given on a first come first serve basis and each employee's history with time off already given is also taken into consideration. The best thing employees can do to ensure time off requests are granted is sufficiently communicate with the manager and follow this policy.
